FoodFacts CONNECT

A foodfacts.org project

We got tired of nutrition nonsense winning

foodfacts.org is a non-profit fighting food misinformation. CONNECT is our answer to the question we kept being asked: “Okay, but who can I actually trust?”

Why CONNECT exists

Anyone can call themselves a “nutritionist”

Here's the loophole: in the UK, “dietitian” is a legally protected title — you can't use it without HCPC registration, a degree and regulated practice. But “nutritionist”, on its own, is not protected. Anyone can print it on a business card after a weekend course, or no course at all.

That asymmetry is how unqualified advice reaches millions while genuinely qualified professionals get lost in the noise. So we built the filter ourselves: CONNECT only lists HCPC-registered dietitians and AfN-registered nutritionists (UKVRN), and we check every registration against the public register before a profile goes live.

No blue-tick-for-cash. No sponsored gurus. If someone is on CONNECT, they're regulated or registered — full stop.

  • “Dietitian” — protected

A legally protected title. HCPC-regulated, degree-qualified, accountable to a statutory regulator with real sanctions.

  • “Registered Nutritionist” — protected

AfN registration (UKVRN) requires accredited degree-level training and a code of ethics. Also register-checked on CONNECT.

  • “Nutritionist” alone — anyone

No qualification needed, no register, no accountability. This is the gap CONNECT closes for you.

How we work

The ethos behind everything we build

Evidence first

Peer-reviewed science over trends, always. If the evidence changes, so do we — that's the whole point of evidence.

Zero diet culture

No guilt, no 'clean' foods, no before-and-after photos. Food should add to your life, and good support meets you where you are.

Mission over margin

We're a non-profit. Platform commission funds foodfacts.org's free education and myth-busting work — not shareholders.

Run by a non-profit

Every booking funds the fight against food misinformation

CONNECT is run by foodfacts.org, a non-profit calling out nutrition nonsense wherever it spreads. There are no shareholders and no ads — our commission goes straight back into free, evidence-based food education for everyone.

  • Myth-busting, funded

Our 10% commission pays for public campaigns that debunk viral nutrition myths.

  • No shareholders

Any surplus goes back into foodfacts.org's charitable work — never into dividends.

  • Evidence first

Everything we publish and everyone we list is grounded in regulated, peer-reviewed science.
